Toronto is located in central Illinois, approximately 35 miles southeast of the state capital of Springfield. The village is situated near Clinton Lake and is surrounded by rich agricultural lands. The village has a total area of 0.29 square miles, all of it land. Toronto is primarily a residential community with a few small businesses and services. The village has a mayor-council form of government, with a six-member Board of Trustees. Toronto is served by the Blue Ridge Community Unit School District #18, which operates Blue Ridge High School in nearby Farmer City. Overall, Toronto is a quiet and peaceful small town with a tight-knit community and a strong sense of local pride.
